Intended for students in engineering, science and applied maths, this book includes chapters on ordinary differential equations, first-order differential equations, the Laplace transform, Sturm-Liouville theory, Eigenfunction expansions and special functions.Since 1978, Dr. Peter O'Neil has been a professor of mathematics at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has served as chairman of mathematics, dean of natural sciences and mathematics, and university provost at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Peter O'Neil has also taught at the University of Minnesota and the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where he was the chairman of the mathematics department. He is the recipient of the Lester R. The Mathematical Association of America has given him the Ford Award.
He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in the same year. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute awarded him a bachelor's degree in mathematics. Graph theory and combinatorial analysis are his principal research areas.
