The Adventures of Wound Man & Shirley by Chris Goode

Shirley is a teenage boy with a girl's name, growing up in suburbia and feeling like the weirdest kid in the school. Nothing makes much sense to him, and his heart belongs to a classmate who barely knows he exists. Wound Man is an unconventional superhero, sprung from the pages of a medieval medical textbook, with an alarming assortment of weapons sticking out from every part of his body. Wound Man has just moved into a house on Shirley's street - and he happens to have a vacancy for a teenage sidekick. A funny and touching story by Chris Goode about two unlikely friends and the adventures they share.
"[a] deft, gentle piece of invention.. The show's tremendous appeal lies in the encounter between fantasy and the everyday - and in the wit and emotional honesty with which the whimsy is applied. Goode tells his delicate story with grace, rhythm and a lot of TLC... if the future of theatre is this Goode, we'll all be smiling." 4 stars - "Time Out"
Chris Goode is a writer, director, performer and musician, and lead artist of Chris Goode & Company. His diverse body of work has been seen in venues ranging from Sydney Opera House and Tate Modern to the most marginal spaces on the London fringe. Chris is a former artistic director of Camden People's Theatre and he now directs the all-male ensemble Ponyboy Curtis.
