Aesop's Fables by Saviour Pirotta
Have you heard the story of the tortoise and the hare? Aesop's Fables is a collection of eight entertaining fables, retold with a difference. Saviour Pirotta's clever, imaginative reworkings of these classic tales bring ancient Greece and the character of Aesop, the freedslave-turned-master-storyteller, vividly to life. Aesop himself tells the reader all about his life as a slave and as a storyteller, and explains the events that inspired his best-loved tales. These fables, gloriously illustrated by Richard Johnson, remain just as relevant today as they were hundreds of years ago.
Saviour Pirotta has written over 60 fiction and non-fiction books for children and his works have been translated into ten languages. He has a special interest in myths and traditional legends from around the world. He was born in Malta and is a trained chef. Saviour lives in Brighton. Richard Johnson graduated from Loughborough University School of Art and Design in 1999 and has been working as an illustrator since. Presented with the Silver Award for children's book illustration in Images 26, Richard has illustrated picture books for Chrysalis, Templar, OUP, Lion and HarperCollins.
