I knew it was a classic the instant I saw it. . The simple verse is brilliant for reading aloud and is perfectly complemented by Blake's spiky, anarchic pictures. An absolute must for the under-fives * Parents Magazine *
The illustrations dance through the pages with the speed and riotous rhythm of the poems. Children really begin to get a sense of what language can do when they experience this book * Child Education *
Blake's exuberant illustrations positively leap off the page and perfectly match his infectious rhymes. This will have everyone joining in * The Good Book Guide *
Quentin Blake has been drawing ever since he can remember. He taught illustration for over twenty years at the Royal College of Art, of which he is an honorary professor. He has won many prizes, including the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration, the Eleanor Farjeon Award and the Kate Greenaway Medal, and in 1999 he was appointed the first Children's Laureate. In the 2013 New Year's Honours List he was knighted for services to illustration.
