She received her Administrative Certificate and her B.S. from Loyola University. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign She graduated from Roosevelt University with a master's degree in Early Childhood Education. She began writing while working as a special education teacher, creating resources to aid her students' learning.
The desire to write grew stronger over time. She soon found herself writing for periodicals, newspapers, newsletters, videotapes, and textbooks, as well as designing content for readers of all ages. Through her work and visits to schools across the country, Marlene continues to interact with children. She continues to write fiction and nonfiction books for children and adults, as well as articles and instructional products.
