A scholar of science fiction, Karen Hellekson has written The Science Fiction of Cordwainer Smith and The Alternate History: Refiguring Historical Time, as well as editing Practicing Science Fiction: Critical Essays on Writing, Reading and Teaching the Genre. She resides in Jay, Maine. The author of many scholarly and popular essays and coeditor of Sherlock and Transmedia Fandom: Essays on the BBC Series, Kristina Busse lives in Mobile, Alabama.
