Ambulances by Chris Batten

This book presents a history of the development of the ambulance from hand litters and bicycle ambulances to the advance paramedic units of the 1990s, as well as the continual changes in the ambulance service in Britain. It includes details of livery.
Chris Batten's interest in ambulances arose from the time he spent in the St John Ambulance Brigate. He writes regular features on ambulances in the model press and is an active member of the British Ambulance Society, which is preserving ambulance history through photographs, uniforms, equipment and reminiscences of ambulance crews as well as collecting actual ambulances.
