Devastated by the collapse of her marriage, Helen Bradshaw flees London for Achill Island on the West Coast of Ireland hoping that her new job researching painter, Grace Henry, will offer her an escape. Achill is wild and beautiful, but island life poses many challenges, she feels isolated, lonely.
Before returning to Dublin, Mary Lennon lived in Spain & London. She has co-authored Across the Water, Irish Women’s Lives in Britain (Virago Press), acclaimed in UK & Ireland. Mary has also published short stories in journals, on radio, BBC4, RTE1 and won First Prize in the Listowel Poetry Competition. She has also worked as a Creative Writing Tutor in colleges, Prison & Adult Education.
