This substantial anthology comprises the most comprehensive and authoritative collection of readings in analytic philosophy of the twentieth century. Martinich is Roy Allison Vaughan Centennial Professor of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin and the author or editor of ten books, most recently Hobbes: A Biography (1999) and The Philosophy of Language (fourth edition, 2001). He is Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Journal of the History of Philosophy. David Sosa is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin.
