Alexander MacLeod grew up in Windsor, Ontario, after being born in Inverness, Cape Breton. His first collection of short tales, Light Lifting (Biblioasis, 2010), was a national bestseller and was shortlisted for the Giller Prize, the Commonwealth Prize, and two Atlantic Book Awards. Alexander holds degrees from the University of Windsor, the University of Notre Dame, and McGill, and currently teaches at Saint Mary's University in Halifax.
