Animals Real and Imagined by Terryl Whitlatch

A fantastic visual voyage into the world of animals, both real and imagined. There is no end to the diverse and unique creatures that Terryl Whitlatch creates for us with her solid knowledge of anatomy and boundless imagination. Especially intriguing are the 100s of anatomical notes that are dispersed among her sketches, educating and enlightening us to the foundation of living bodies and their mechanics.

Terryl Whitlatch is a skilled, scientifically trained illustrator who has studied vertebrate zoology and animal anatomy extensively. She has worked as a Senior Consultant for Wildlife Art and Animal Anatomy for many zoos and museums in the United States, as well as The World Wildlife Fund. Terryl is widely regarded as one of the best creature designers and animal anatomists working today. With a career spanning more than 25 years, she has worked on a variety of projects, including Beowulf. Terryl worked with Lucasfilm Ltd., Industrial Light & Magic, and George Lucas' JAK Films for almost seven years. The Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide, a collection of her work for Lucasfilm, was published by Chronicle Books in 2001 to critical praise and popular popularity. Terryl has also created artwork for a number of electronic and interactive games for major companies, including Steven Spielberg's The Dig for LucasArts.
