Anna by Pat Mestern

Anna Ellington was born in the Wellington County House of Industry and Refuge, known as the Poor House near Fergus, Ontario, Canada. Later she was bound out to a wealthy family in Toronto. In 1904, Anna returns to Fergus as a beautiful young woman in search of her family. She hopes to learn why her mother ended up in the County Poor House. During her visit to the area she encounters several local characters and finds romance, mystery, wealth, intrigue, and answers to many questions. Readers will never forget Anna and the folks that enter her life.
Pat Mestern has always called the Upper Grand River Valley in southern Ontario home. The combination of its beautiful natural heritage and multi-cultural diversity - the Scots, Irish, English, German, Mennonite and Amish settled this vibrant area - plays a major role in forming the characterizations and settings for her works of historical fiction that are primarily set in Canada. Traveling and writing provide her with endless ideas for scenarios, time periods and characters for those works of fiction that are set away. Pat Mattaini Mestern who calls Fergus, Ontario, Canada home has authored twelve books, her favourite genre being historical fiction. She also writes travel, lifestyle and local history columns for a variety of national and international publications.
