It's 1909 and Molly May, her husband lost at sea and presumed dead, has escaped from her cruel in-laws in Liverpool along the Leeds-Liverpool canal to Burscough Bridge. June Francis was born in Blackpool and moved to Liverpool at an early age. She began writing in her forties and contributed stories to MY WEEKLY. She has since published over twenty novels. She is married with three grown-up sons.
