Anzio: The Friction of War by Lloyd Clark
The first book in a generation by a British author to tell the story of the Anzio landings and the bloody stalemate that followed
'Lloyd Clark's lucid, elegantly written book is well overdue.. Absolutely first class' -- Alex Kershaw 'Anzio veterans will be grateful for such abalanced, sensitive account and assessment' -- Literary Review 'This is a beautifully written history, a masterly intertwining of perspectives from the War Cabinet to the trenches, which will deservedly take its place on bookshelves alongside the works of Anthony Beevor and Max Hastings' -- Gary Sheffield, Birmingham Post
Currently Senior Lecturer at the Dept of War Studies, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Lloyd Clark is one of the UK's leading military historians. He has written several books, has lectured all over the world, is a frequent guide to battlefields on four continents and has worked extensively on radio and TV as both historical adviser and interviewee.
