Christof Thoenes studied art history in Berlin and Pavia, before completing his doctorate in Berlin. He has contributed to numerous publications on Italian art, particularly on architecture and architectural theory of the 15th to 18th centuries. Bernd Evers completed his doctorate in art history before embarking on a career as a librarian; since 1985 he has been director of the Kunstbibliothek der Staatlichen Museen in Berlin. He has published numerous articles on book and library studies.
