Victor Arwas (dead) grew up in Cairo, Egypt, before coming to London with his family and starting a successful career as an art dealer. He was the creator of Editions Graphiques, a London art gallery that has been operational for over four decades. He was also the curator of more than thirty shows around the world. Arwas became a top expert in his area as an Art Nouveau specialist. During the course of his career, he has authored over 30 books, monographs, and exhibition catalogues, several of which have become canon literature in art history subjects.

Art Nouveau from Mackintosh to Liberty (2000) and Art Nouveau - The French Aesthetic (2002) are two important publications. In February of 2010, he passed away. The majority of Arwas' novels were published by Andreas Papadakis, the founder of the Papadakis Publishing. With his vast collection of photographs and designs, Papadakis was able to compile the original artwork for The Stocking Book.
