Mason, Cindy: - Dr. Mason has won multiple awards for her work including from the AAAI and National Research Council. Dr. Mason is one of the few people have pioneered solutions in multiple fields including earth science, medicine and artificial intelligence. At Livermore Laboratory, Dr. Mason created the first software agents to verify nuclear treaties. At NASA, she created AI technology to support a new way of monitoring variable stars with a Global Network of Automatic Telescopes. She was also on the robotics team that sent the first teleoperated undersea robot to Antarctica. Her work at Stanford Hospital using emotion centered patient therapies reduced hospital stays for stem cell transplant patients by 50%. Most recently she is credited with pioneering Artificial Compassion. She has been a research scientist at NASA, Stanford and UC Berkeley. Her most recent position was Asst Chair Philosophy and Technology at the Berkeley Institute for Soft Computing. She is credited with starting the first computer science department in the Australian Outback with Anna Lichtenberg.
