Gottfried Bammes, an art teacher at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, was born in Freital, Germany, in 1920. Bammes was a prolific writer and artist who was regarded as a master of life drawing and anatomy. Throughout his career, he published multiple volumes on the subject. He was awarded the German Democratic Republic's National Award for Science and Technology in 1974, and the City of Freital's Culture and Art Prize in 2000. In 2007, he passed away.
