Artists: Photographs by Gautier Deblonde by Mel Gooding

For five years French photographer Gautier Deblonde has worked closely with British artists to arrive at photo-images that catch the quick of the art world. Very few of these photographs have ever been published, and by bringing them together in this book, another work of art is created. The artists represented here have all been working in Britain in the 1990s. Sometimes Deblonde's photographs are the result of a single encounter; on other occasions he may have visited and revisited the artist. This is therefore not a documentary of every well-known artist in Britain today, but with over seventy images taken by a single photographer, it represents a remarkable vision of the British art scene at the end of the twentieth century.
