Arthur L. Costa, Ed.D., is a California State University, Sacramento Emeritus Professor of Education. He is a co-founder of the Institute for Mind Habits and the Center for Cognitive Coaching. He worked for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as the director of educational programs and as a classroom teacher, curriculum consultant, and assistant superintendent for instruction in the Office of the Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools. Art served as president of the California Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development from 1988 to 1989, and was the National President of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development from 1988 to 1989. He has given talks and workshops in all 50 states and on six of the seven continents. In 2010, he was honored by the National Urban Alliance with the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.
