At One by Lynn Plourde

At One: In a Place Called Maine is a love letter to the state of Maine, lyrically and graphically celebrating its inspirational beauty from the wilds of Baxter State Park to the crashing waves of the Atlantic. All of the scenes featured in At One were inspired by award-winning author Lynn Plourde's experiences, including a visit by twin fawns to her backyard, a hike up Mount Katahdin, cross-country skiing by moonlight, and an encounter with a bear while camping. At One, illustrated by Leslie Mansmann, is sure to become a classic picture book for those who either live in Maine or wish they did.

Lynn Plourde has written forty children's books, the most recent of which is The Boy Whose Face Froze Like That. Pigs in the Mud in the Middle of the Desert, Wild Child, and her middle grade novel Maxi's Secrets (or what you can learn from a dog), inspired by her best friend Maggie, are just a few of Lynn's other works. Every year, Lynn makes many author visits to schools, where she teaches children how to write their own stories. She worked as a speech-language therapist in public schools for 21 years before becoming a full-time novelist, and she worked with many students with Down syndrome. Lynn enjoys going on walks, gardening, reading, and playing with her small grandson in Winthrop, Maine, where she lives with her husband. Lynn Plourde's website is www.lynnplourde.com.
