Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), known as the Father of Modern Sculpture, is largely regarded as the Father of Modern Sculpture. Despite early rejection by French art academies, he created a career centered on representing the human form using materials such as bronze, marble, plaster, and clay, and by 1900, he had become a world-renowned artist. The Kiss (1884), The Thinker (1880), and The Age of Bronze (1876) are among Rodin's most famous works.
