Robert Wagner was born in the Austrian city of Vienna. He and his family moved to a farmstead in Canada after World War II. He received his education in a Catholic school system and went on to seminary. He went to university, earned a scientific degree, and eventually became a medical specialist after a brief stay. He and his wife spend their summers in Canada and their winters in Mexico.
