Pamela August Russell began her writing career when she won a statewide short-story contest in third grade. She eventually moved west to San Francisco, where she and her girlfriend Alison Gallant founded the Better Off Dead Poets Society. They developed a cult-like following after touring the spoken word circuit together. Russell was also a regular reader and host at San Francisco's iconic Sister Spit. Virgin Territory and Nothing Moments are two collections in which she has short tales and poetry published. Her first collection of poetry is this one.
