
Robert C. Dick served in the United States Army as a Sherman tank driver. The 763rd Tank Battalion of the Army's 96th Infantry Division received the Presidential Unit Citation for gallantry during the Battle of Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with V device. He joined the fire department in Arcadia, California, after the war and served as fire chief for twenty-seven years. He began writing a column for R/C Modeler magazine, the leading journal for radio control enthusiasts, in 1985. He is a resident of Cave Junction, Oregon.
