This is a bitter-sweet tale which evokes both the splendour and the harshness in life in rural England at the beginning of the 19th century and deals with the events which would lead to tragedy for John Clare. It looks at his life when he was 17.
Hugh Lupton, who lives in Aylsham, Norfolk, is one of the best known professional storytellers in the county. He began his career in 1981 and spent 12 years touring Britain with the Company of Storytellers. Since the mid-nineties he has worked as a solo performer and has published 12 novels to date.
