Rounaq Jahan is a senior research scholar and adjunct professor of international affairs at Columbia University. She had been Professor of Political Science, Dhaka University; Coordinator, Women in Development Programme, UN Asia-Pacific Development Centre, Kualalumpur Malaysia, and Head, Rural Women's Programme, ILO, Geneva Switzerland. Her publications include Pakistan: Failure in National Integration, New York; Columbia University Press, 1972; Women and Development: Perspectives from South and South East Asia (co-editor), Dhaka, Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs, 1979; Bangladesh Politics: Problems and Issues, Dhaka; The University Press Ltd (UPL), 1980; and The Elusive Agenda: Mainstreaming Women in Development, London, Zed Books, 1995. She received her Ph.D in Political Science from Harvard University.
