Baptized Every Morning is written for anyone who has experienced a grief and loss so profound, it washes away life patterns and structures -- a new life must be built. There are prompts from my own experiences with a grief and loss that took my life. I was faced with a choice to live an empty existence, or try to build a new life. Notice I say build a new life, not rebuild. For big grief and loss make rebuilding impossible. There are prompts for the reader to journal or sketch after each short section -- express in a non-linear way what is going on inside, in order to sort, name, select, experiment, review, incorporate, omit. Baptized Every Morning is a guidepost, journal and sketchbook on how to live with big grief and loss. It can be approached in solitude, with a friend, a therapist, a family member, a trusted other. It can be approached in a group. My book, The Widow Lessons, taught me that big grief and loss takes all forms, comes at any age, and always means the same thing. Life as you knew it is over. There will be a new life emerging. I share my pain with you in order to help you find some peace.
