Eleanor Frances (Butler) Cameron was a children's novelist and critic who lived from 1912 to 1996. In her lifetime, she published 20 novels, including The Fantastic Journey to the Mushroom Planet (1954) and its sequels, The Green and Burning Tree (1969), a collection of critical essays, and The Court of the Stone Children (1973), which received the U.S. Children's Books won the National Book Award.
