Bard Fae Thi Buildin Site by Mark Thomson
This poetry collection introduces a new and powerful voice championing Scotland's most belittled city, suffused with fierce pride in its native Dundee. Written in the Dundonian dialect, Thomson's work displays passion for his town, his country, his mother tongue and, most of all, for his people.'Some of the quieter poems trhough on ordinary life in an ordinary housing estate have a truth in them that comes directly off the page' - TOM LEONARD
'A book that doesn't pull any punches.. working class poetry at its finest.' - JACK McKEOWN, THE COURIER
Mark Thomson writes and performs his street poetry at poetry slams and festivals including Big Word with other like-minded poets, bringing music and poetry together. He began writing after completing a Hilltown Horizons literary course, where he met other Dundonian poets Gary Robertson and Kevin McCabe. He now leads creative writing courses himself and runs national literacy organisation workshops. His students have included children from the Barnardo's organisation.
