Lieutenant Colonel William Barker was a successful airman who was greatly decorated, including being a holder of the Victorian Cross, the Croix-de-Guerre and two Italian Silver Medals for Valour. This biography of Barker finds out why his life and achievements have largely been forgotten.
Wayne Ralph was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, and served as a pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces between 1965 and 1973. From 1981-1983, Wayne w2as a Dept. of National Defence Strategic Studies Scholar at the University of Calgary. he is the former editor of Wings Magazine, past president of the Air Force Officers Association of Greater Vancouver, and a member of the Air Force Association of Canada. He published a biography of William Barker, the air ace from the First World War, and Barker VC became a bestseller in Canada and the UK, won the McWilliams Medal of the Manitoba Historical Society, and was the basis for two television documentaries.
