Barley Wine by Fal Allen

Explaining the mysterious term barley wine, the authors share their secrets of how to brew this challenging high-alcohol, hoppy, sweet ale that is every brewer's crowning achievement. Recipes from some of the beer industry's most respected brewers are included.

Cantwell co-founded Elysian Brewing Company in 1996 and served as head brewer until the company was sold to Anheuser-Busch in 2015. He is one of the industry's most well-respected and experienced craft brewers. Elysian was selected Big Brewpub of the Year at the Great American Beer Festival(R) three times during his employment (1999, 2003, and 2004), and he received the BA's Russell Schehrer Award for Innovation in Brewing in 2004. He's also written for a number of beer publications, including The New Brewer, Beer Advocate, and American Brewer. Barley Wine (with Fal Allen), The Brewers Association's Guide to Establishing Your Own Brewery, Second Edition, and Wood & Beer (with New Belgium's Peter Bouckaert) are among his book publishing credits. He splits his time between San Francisco and Seattle.
