The Barn Owl by Iain R Taylor

This book covers all aspects of the biology of the barn owl: its distribution, habitat, feeding behaviour, breeding, movements and mortality. Special attention is given to the problem of conservation, why the species has declined and what might be done to help it in the future.
After studying foraging ecology of terns and skuas for his doctorate at the University of Aberdeen, Dr Taylor worked for three years at the University of Ghana, West Afria. His main interest there was the ecology of rain-forest birds but it was also there that his enthusiasm for barn owls started after discovering a flock of sixteen of them feeding on termites one night.
