Beacon on the Shore by Mary Withall
In 1876 there were three new arrivals to the small coastal community of Eisdalsa. David Beaton, the new doctor, Cornish engineer William Whylie, and Elizabeth Duncan, the new schoolteacher. Both men are rivals for her attentions, but Elizabeth will not have her future decided by any man.
Mary Withall lives on Easdale Island, near Argyll, and is the assistant curator of the local quarrying museum.
