Allan Hill has twice won the prestigious Cricket Society Jubilee Literary Award for his biographies of fellow Yorkshiremen, Hedley Verity and Herbert Sutcliffe. His other books include portraits of Les Ames, Johnny Wardle and Bill Edrich. He has also produced notable studies of Peter May and Jim Laker. Having previously worked as a cricket and soccer reporter on national and provincial dailies, he now lives and works as a journalists and writer in Sussex.
