Beatrys Lockie (1927-2023) was born in The Netherlands and began to tell stories at an early age. After moving to the UK Beatrys married Edinburgh-born James Lockie and they had five children. Once the children had grown, together the family rebuilt an 18th-century stable block in Lamancha, Peebleshire. As well as being a talented weaver and spinner, Beatrys was a class teacher at Edinburgh Steiner School until her retirement. She lived with her family in the Scottish Borders for many years.
