Nancy M. Petry earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Harvard University in 1994, and she joined the faculty of the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1996, where she is presently Professor of Medicine. Dr. Petry conducts research on treatment of addictive disorders, ranging from substance use to gambling disorders, and her work is funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Petry is a consultant and advisor for the National Institutes of Health and the Veterans Administration, she served on the DSM-5® committee for the American Psychiatric Association, and she is the Editor-in-Chief of Psychology of Addictive Behaviors. Her first book, Pathological Gambling: Etiology, Comorbidity, and Treatment, received the Choice Magazine Award for Top Academic title in 2005.
