Kevin Brownlow, a silent cinema historian who began collecting at the age of eleven, lives in London. The Parade's Gone By..., The War, the West, and the Wilderness, Beneath the Mask of Innocence, Hollywood: The Pioneers, and Napolean: Abel Gance's Classic Cinema, which chronicled his celebrated reconstruction of that iconic masterwork, are among his works. He has co-directed two feature films with Andrew Mollo, It Happened Here and Winstanley, as well as several television documentaries with David Gill, notably the thirteen-part series Hollywood, which premiered in 1980, and more recently Unknown Chaplin, Buster Keaton: A Hard Art to Follow, and Harold Lloyd: The Third Genius.
