Benno and the Night of Broken Glass by Meg Wiviott

Benno was the neighborhood's favorite cat.

During the week, he napped in a sunny corner of Mitzi Stein's dress shop and begged scrapped from Moshe the butcher. But one night in Berlin, the Nazis changed everything. Life would never be the same.

This cat's-eye view introduces the Holocaust to children in a gentle way that can open discussion of this period.

Meg Wiviott was born and raised in New Jersey. She studied in history at the University of Wisconsin and went on to Northwestern University for her master's degree in education. She is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Meg and her husband live in New Jersey with their two grown children.
