The Best of Maggie Weldon Crochet Afghans
World of Books
The feel-good place to buy books

Maggie Weldon started crocheting when she was in fourth grade, after learning the chain stitch from a nun after school. She had a gigantic ball of chains after chaining for an eternity. Maggie was learning to sew at the time and assumed she'd have to sew the chains together with a needle and thread side by side. Crochet stitch diagrams in popular publications helped her re-engage with the craft, and she discovered she truly like it. Maggie has been designing afghans and home decor projects for publishers and yarn companies since 1981.
Her designs have appeared in a variety of brochures, magazines, books, and even on television! Maggie's Crochet now has over twenty books and over two hundred kits in its product line. Maggie adds that moving from Michigan to North Carolina has been a long-time desire of hers, and that living there is a dream come true. Maggie's kid is a talented crocheter and aspiring designer who is following in her mother's footsteps.
Maggie enjoys trekking and attending pottery classes when she isn't producing stunning crochet products. Maggie has combined crochet into her ceramics, using crochet doilies to form impressions on her hand-built pieces, continuing her pattern of unique ideas. Some of her work has been presented at an art gallery under the name Lace Pottery.
