Beyond the Beachhead by Joseph Balkoski
Previously untested in battle, the American 29th Infantry Division stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day and began a summer of bloody combat in the hedgerows of Normandy. Against a tenacious German foe, the division fought fiercely for every inch of ground and, at great cost, liberated the town of St. Lô. This new and expanded edition of Joseph Balkoski’s classic follows the 29th through the final stages of the Normandy campaign and the brutal struggle for the town of Vire.
