* Jerry Stanley was born in the year 1941 in Highland Park, Michigan. He joined the air force when he was seventeen years old and was stationed in California, where he has lived ever since. * After leaving the air force, Jerry went to college and supported himself on weekends as a rock-'n'-roll drummer. He earned both a master's and a doctoral degree. University of Arizona bachelor's and master's degrees

* Jerry is now a history professor at California State University, Bakersfield, where he teaches American West, American Indian, and California history courses. Jerry has written numerous essays for scholarly journals and popular magazines in addition to his children's novels. Jerry enjoys bowling, racquetball, fishing, drumming, and composing comedic material. He and his wife, Dorothy, live in Bakersfield, California, with their four children.
