Big Snake by Robert Twigger
First published in 1999, Twigger investigates the legendary beautiful women of Sulawesi, treads in Nabokov's footsteps through the remote are of Borneo, looks for giant snakes beneath the sewers of Kuala Lumpur and spends time with a variety of snake catchers and cults, before coming face to face with the big one.
Robert Twigger won the Somerset Maugham and William Hill Sports Book of the Year awards for Angry White Pyjamas. Big Snake was filmed for Channel 4.
