Biography: Anne Frank by Ann Kramer

Thirteen-year-old Anne Frank hid from Hitler's troops with her family in 1942. Read the remarkable story of her life, death, and legacy. In 1942 an ordinary teenage girl began writing a diary that would tell the world the  extraordinary story of Anne Frank, a Jewish girl, during World War Two. Anne  and her family were forced into hiding to escape Hilter's troops. For two  years she lived in a secret annex until they were discovered and sent to a  concentration camp. Anne's life ended at Bergen-Belsen but the later publication  of her diary ensured that Anne's voice was never silenced.

'This would be a good classroom introduction to World War 2, as it allows children to see the war from a younger girl’s perspectiveThey are able to compare the world that Anne lived in to their own world and see the restrictions imposed.  The use of real photographs and a real life story allows a more personal, yet guided view and the whole story is then put into context with historical events.  The timeline is especially useful and runs along the bottom edge of each page.'

‘Well presented with good use of contemporary resources the poignant story of this courageous girl is vividly explained by this book.’
