Biology by Mark Winterbottom
"Science Scope: Biology" is one of three books in a series of science texts for teachers who teach 11-14 science as three separate subject disciplines. The books are aimed broadly at middle-ability students, with the core material at National Curriculum Levels 5/6, but contain all the material needed for pupils to reach the highest levels. This higher-level text is separated out from the body of the text in boxes, so that teachers can ensure that for their average-ability pupils, they are teaching no more than they need to teach. In addition, the books include all the material needed for pupils to complete their Common Entrance 13+ exam.
Stunning photographs, clear and neatly labelled diagrams, good use of colour - this volume has all the features we have come to expect in a modern textbookAll the programme of study material is covered - a solid foundation... -- School Science Review 20030601 The three textbooks (one for each subject) are dazzling in their use of colour illustrations and pictures. Each page has vivid boxes and mini test-yourself panels to grab even the youngest student's attention. The books are clear with short chapters on all of the topics in the programme of study. They would be ideal for schools and colleges which teach science subjects seperately at KS3. They are brightly and thoughtfully illustrated and would be useful extension material for more able students... A good steady set of books covering all of the programme of study and well beyond. -- TES Teacher 20030301
