Black Mass by Dick Lehr
Told in narrative style by the Boston Globe reporters who covered the case from the beginning, this is a true epic crime story that is also a book about Boston and Irish America; about the pull of place; and about the ties between people - ties that bind, and ties that blind.
Gerard O'Neill is the editor of the Boston Globe's Spotlight Team, one of the nation's top investigative reporting units. He started at the Globe in 1966, and has won a Pulitzer Prize, been a Pulitzer finalist, won the Hancock Award, the Loeb Award, and many others. Dick Lehr joined the Boston Globe in 1985. Lehr has also been a Pulitzer Finalist, and he too has won the Hancock and Loeb awards, among others. O'Neill and Lehr are the authors of The Underboss: The Rise and Fall of a Mafia Family.
