Black River by Josh Simmons
A group of women, one man and two dogs are making their way through a post-apocalyptic world in search of a city that supposedly still has electricity and civilisation. Along the way, they go to a comedy club, take a drug called Gumdrop and encounter gangs of fools, lunatics and sadists. The world may have ended, but the horror of humanity remains. Josh Simmons is one of the most distinctive graphic novelists of his generation. This first full-length graphic novel since 2007's House (Fantagraphics) has echoes of John Carpenter and Shirley Jackson.Josh Simmons was born in Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut, and now resides in Seattle, Washington.
