[BLANK] by Alice Birch
A new theatrical provocation by Alice Birch, co-commissioned by NT Connections and theatre company Clean Break. [BLANK] is no traditional play, it’s a series of sixty scenes - some of which may feel connected, others less so - about adults and children impacted by the criminal justice system. It's about what life is like when adults feel absent from it. But it can be about whatever you like - readers and performers can choose as many or as few scenes in order to construct their own narratives.
Alice Birch is a writer. Her theatre work includes We Want You to Watch for the National Theatre; Anatomy of a Suicide, Ophelias Zimmer and Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again for the Royal Court; and Many Moons for Theatre503. Film work includes Lady Macbeth. She has won the George Devine Award, the International Critic's Prize at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Critic's Choice Award for Best First Feature at the Zurich Film Festival and the Arts Foundation Award for Playwriting.
