Blood on the Streets by Paul O'brien
Based around the bridge over the canal at Mount Street, three well-positioned groups of volunteers led by Lieutenant Michael Malone held out against a far greater number of British soldiers arriving from Kingstown. This book explores the people, the places and the context of the real events of the battle for Mount Street Bridge.
Paul O'Brien worked for many years as a precision tool maker before returning to college to complete a degree in history and the history of art. He currently works in the Office of Public Works and is finishing a Masters in history.
