Meredith Laurence, the Blue Jean Chef, has worked in the food industry in a variety of positions and situations. She originally polished her abilities in two Michelin-rated restaurants in Les-Baux-de-Provence, France, after graduating from the New England Culinary School. When Meredith returned to Vermont to teach at the New England Culinary School, she took a different culinary path, training professional culinary students during the day and home cooks in the evenings. She returned to San Francisco to teach and manage at two HomeChef(R) cooking schools (now Viking Culinary Arts Centers), having discovered her true calling in training home cooks.
Meredith also worked as a food and product consultant at the Center for Culinary Development, where she gained experience in developing and testing recipes. She's been the Blue Jean Chef(R) on live television for the past thirteen years, providing on-air culinary demonstrations and advising QVC consumers on cooking and kitchen equipment. Meredith is the bestselling author of six cookbooks according to USA Today.
